How it Happened
Stonehill came out of the gates strong in the first half, outshooting Le Moyne 14-1 over the opening 45 minutes of play with a group of grade-A scoring chances coming from first-year student
Erin Foley and graduate student
Meghan Lord.
In the 20th and 21st minutes, Foley and Lord traded point-blank scoring opportunities for the Skyhawks. However, midway through the first half, McPherson rushed the attacker into goal for Le Moyne and stifled both Stonehill's scoring chances.
At the 43:07 mark, Lord narrowly gave the Skyhawks a late first-half lead, sending a shot off the top woodwork and back into the field of play, coming mere inches away from her first goal of the season.
Coming out into the second half of action, Stonehill would find the back of the net for the game's opening score in the 57th minute when Anselmo found nylon for the fourth time this season. The junior forward out of Fall River, Mass., deked through defenders and sent a shot bar down over the goal line to break the tie and give the Skyhawks a 1-0 lead.
Just over 10 minutes later, after a free kick crossed into the box off the sideline by Dumaresq, Roslonek would race in and send a header past McPheron and into the back of the net for her first career goal.
Stonehill would cap off the conference matchups by scoring at the 82:03 mark when Webster received a cross-field pass from Schultz and sent a left-footed shot through the legs of McPherson, sealing the decisive 3-0 shutout victory for the Skyhawks.
