KINGSTON, R.I. (November 24, 2024) – Stonehill College wrapped up its weekend of competition at the 2024 Harold Anderson Invitational, hosted by the University of Rhode Island, by qualifying for five more individual finals and swimming in seven overall on the final day at Tootell Aquatics Center.
Freshman
Lilith Peterson qualified for her second breaststroke B-final of the weekend and finished sixth for the 200-yard breaststroke today in a season-best 2:26.28, good for 14
th overall. She qualified this morning 15
th out of 35 entries in 2:27.28, while junior
Jami Hepburn qualified 20
th overall in a season-best 2:29.01. Hepburn swam the C-final in 2:34.03 to place 24
th overall.

Junior
Azia Koser swam two finals on Sunday, qualifying for the C-final in the 200-yard butterfly, along with freshman
Morgan Kukral, and swimming the 1650-yard freestyle finals. Koser finished seventh in the 200-fly C-final in a season-best 2:18.55 for a 23rd-place finish overall, while Kukral was right behind in 24
th place at 2:19.78. Kukral qualified 24
th with her season-best time of 2:19.21 this morning, while Koser qualified 25
th in 2:19.32.
Koser also swam to a 15th-place finish out of 21 entries in the 1650-yard freestyle in 19:07.23 this afternoon between her two butterfly swims.
Freshman
Maddie Gomez qualified for the C-final of the 200-yard backstroke and finished third in the final heat in a season-best 2:07.35 for a 19th-place finish overall. She qualified for the final 17
th out of 41 entries in 2:08.09 this morning. It marked her first collegiate final after falling a mere tenth of a second shy in the 200-yard freestyle on Saturday with her school-record time of 1:57.25.
Stonehill placed 19
th in the 400-yard freestyle relay with junior
Kristy Barry, sophomores
Grace Idowu and
Sherri Danforth, and senior
Sharlotte Lundell posting a season-best time of 3:43.75. Barry swam the lead leg in 55.21 seconds, with Idowu clocking in at 55.20 seconds for the second leg, before Danforth completed the third leg in 56.94, and then Lundell posted a 56.40-second split for the anchor leg.
Stonehill finished off a seventh-place showing in the team standings for the Harold Anderson Invitational with 83 points. The Skyhawks competed in 15 finals over the weekend, qualifying for 11 individual finals over the four-day event. Junior
Taylor Belanger joined Gomez in setting new school records this weekend, setting a new mark for the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:05.42 on Saturday morning to qualify for the A-final in the event last night, where she posted the top finish of the weekend for the Skyhawks in eighth place (1:06.13).

The University of Vermont held off host Rhode Island to win the team title by just 35 points, scoring 877 points to 842 for URI. College of the Holy Cross rounded out the top three with 503 points.

- Freshman Elizabeth Weston placed 30th in the 200-yard backstroke prelims with her season-best time of 2:12.77.
- Idowu placed 31st out of 65 entries in the 100-yard freestyle in 54.38 seconds. She led nine Skyhawks entered in the event with Barry placing 34th in a personal-best 54.66-seconds and then freshman Chihiro Bringman, postgrad Katie Keating and freshman Rena Gilligan placing 47th, 48th and 49th, respectively in season-best times for the trio. Brigman clocked in at 56.53 seconds, with Keating finishing in 56.82 seconds and Gilligan at 57.03.
- Stonehill's B-relay for the 400-yard freestyle placed 21st in 3:50.61, ahead of the C-relay in 22nd by clocking in at 3:56.92. Swimming the B-relay were Weston, Gilligan, Hepburn and Kukral.

Stonehill is now off for nearly two months for final exams and the holiday breaks, returning to action for a dual meet at Brandeis University on Wednesday, January 15, at 6 p.m. The Skyhawks will host their Senior Meet against Merrimack College at Massasoit Community College Poll on Saturday, January 25, at 1 p.m. The season will culminate with the 2025 Northeast Conference Championships at Spire Academy in Geneva, Ohio, February 19-22.
