How it Happened
Stonehill and Saint Francis came out of the gates even, trading shots on goal throughout the opening 15 minutes of play. However, at the 28:34 mark, after four consecutive shot attempts from the Red Flash, Schelb would find nylon and give Saint Francis the first lead of the game.
Following a turnover on the defensive third of the pitch by the Skyhawks, De Nittis would slide kick a through ball up to Schelb, who would tap a shot past Claffey in goal to give the Red Flash a one-goal lead heading into the halftime break.
Coming out into the second half of action, Stonehill would narrowly even the game at one aside within the first 13 minutes of play. Bittencourt and Kahawai each registered shots on goal and nearly found the back of the net within a minute between 57:21 and 58:52 on the clock. However, the Red Flash backline and Becker would keep Stonehill off the board and preserve their one-goal lead.
At the 77:56 mark in the conference matchup, Schelb would find the back of the net for his second goal of the contest, marking his second two-goal outing of the season. Schelb's first goal eventually proved to be the game-winner as Saint Francis walked away victorious in the two sides Northeast Conference opener by a final score of 2-0.
