BRIDGEWATER, Mass. (January 10, 2025) – The Stonehill College men's hockey team was shutout 3-0 by Lindenwood on Friday night at the Bridgewater Ice Arena. With the loss, the Skyhawks' record now stands at 6-19 overall, while the Lions improved to 5-15-1 on the season.

  • First-year netminder Linards Lipskis tallied 28 saves in between the pipes for Stonehill.
  • Senior David Gagnon fueled the Lindenwood offensive effort, posting three points on the night off a goal and two assists.
  • Junior John Evans posted his third multi-point game of the season after dishing out a pair of assists for the Lions.
  • Sophomore Patrick Schmiedlin and first-year student Noah Houle netted their first and second goals of the season, respectively.
  • Sophomore goaltender Owen Bartoszkiewicz picked up his fourth win and first shutout of the season after stopping all 23 shots he faced inside the crease.
How It Happened
In the opening two minutes of the first period, Stonehill's defensive duo of senior Cameron Gaudette and freshman Justin Gibson each saw a shot glance off the post, narrowly missing an early opportunity to give the Skyhawks a one-goal advantage.

Following these early chances, both teams exchanged shot attempts, with the game remaining scoreless until the final seconds of the opening frame. At the 19:47 mark, Lindenwood seized the lead when Schmiedlin capitalized on a scramble in front of the Stonehill net, sending a backhand shot past the goaltender for his second goal of the season. This gave the Lions a 1-0 lead as the teams headed to the first intermission.

Stonehill came out strong in the second period, outshooting Lindenwood 8-3 in the first 10 minutes. However, after the Skyhawks' early offensive pressure, the Lions regained momentum and peppered Stonehill's defense with 18 shot attempts over the remainder of the period, including three in the final seconds. Despite the heavy shot barrage, goaltender Lipskis and the Skyhawks defense stood firm, keeping the deficit at just one goal heading into the third period.

The Lions extended their lead in the final frame, with goals from Houle (9:41) and Gagnon (16:02), while Bartoszkiewicz denied the Skyhawks' comeback effort, securing Lindenwood's 3-0 victory.
