WALTHAM, Mass. (January 15, 2025) – The Stonehill College women's swimming team opened its second semester with an 86.00-26.00 dual meet victory over Brandeis University at Linsey Pool tonight.
Stonehill took first place in all six events that were contested on the night, finishing with 13 top three and 21 top-five finishes tonight. Junior
Kristy Barry highlighted Stonehill's six event wins with a school-record performance in the 100-yard individual medley of 1:01.58 – the fourth-fastest time for the event in the NEC this season. She broke the previous school mark in the event set in this same meet just one year ago, almost to the day, of 1:01.91 set by
Sydney Stockwell, '24. Barry also finished the night with four top three finishes in all.

Barry led a sweep of the top two positions for the Skyhawks with freshman
Maddie Gomez close behind in a personal-best 1:02.98 for second place. Stonehill took four of the top five positions in the event and seven of the top nine overall. Senior
Sharlotte Lundell finished fourth in a personal-best 1:04.93, while freshman
Sorina Cheng rounded out the top five in 1:05.05.
Barry anchored Stonehill's 200-yard medley relay that took first place in 1:49.64, along with Gomez, junior
Taylor Belanger and sophomore
Grace Idowu. Gomez swam the lead backstroke leg, while Belanger swam the breaststroke leg, Idowu the butterfly, and then Barry the freestyle anchor. Stonehill's B-relay of Lundell, juniors
Azia Koser and
Jami Hepburn, and sophomore
Sherri Danforth finished third in 1:52.46.
Barry was among three Stonehill swimmers who took three of the top four spots in the 50-yard backstroke that was won by freshman
Elizabeth Weston in 28.20 seconds. Barry finished third in 28.56 seconds, while Cheng took fourth in 29.49.
Idowu won the 50-yard freestyle in 25.04 seconds as Stonehill took three of the top four spots, five of the top seven, and six of nine overall for the event. Barry finished third in 25.65 seconds, while Weston finished fourth in 26.18.
Belanger led a Stonehill sweep of the top three positions in the 50-yard breaststroke in 30.74 seconds for the event win as the Skyhawks also took five of the top six spots overall. Hepburn finished second in 30.99 seconds, while freshman
Rena Gilligan rounded out the top three sweep in 32.49.
Lundell won the 50-yard butterfly in 27.40 seconds as Stonehill took five of the top six positions and six of the top eight. Freshman
Chihiro Bringman placed third in a season-best 27.70 seconds, while Gomez finished fourth in 27.89, Weston fifth in 28.07 and Barry rounded out the top five Skyhawks in sixth in 28.09.

Stonehill is right back in action on Saturday when it visits Siena College for a dual meet in Loudonville, New York, at 1 p.m. The Skyhawks will host their Senior Meet against Merrimack College at Massasoit Community College Poll on Saturday, January 25, at 1 p.m. The season will culminate with the 2025 Northeast Conference Championships at Spire Academy in Geneva, Ohio, February 19-22.
