KINGSTON, R.I. (January 18, 2025) - The Stonehill College women's track and field team competed in its first indoor meet of 2025 and second of the season at the URI Invitational at the Mackal Field House.
 
FIELD EVENTS

• Sophomore Kayla Oakes (Kingston, N.Y.) placed fifth in the long jump with a leap of 5.26m (17' 3"), her best jump of the indoor season.
• In the triple jump, junior Kaia Eder (Moorestown, N.J.) finished with a distance of 10.21m (33' 6") on her sixth and final attempt to place seventh in the event.
• A trio of freshmen came in fourth and fifth in the high jump, with Simone Connolly (West Roxbury, Mass.) leading the way with a leap of 1.60m (5'3"), a new personal best for Connolly as she came in fourth. Tying for fifth place were Hannah Santos (Swansea, Mass.) and Mollie Osgood (Wilmington, Mass.) as the two first-years placed fifth with matching jumps of 1.55m (5' 1").
• Graduate student Abigail Larsson (Bayport, N.Y.) had her best performance in the pole vault since last February, placing fifth as she reached a height of 3.50m (11' 5.75").

TRACK EVENTS

• For the second consecutive meet this indoor season, junior Jordan Malloy (Colchester, Conn.) finished runner-up in the mile race but first out of all collegiate runners. She set a new PR in the mile, finishing in 4:51.94, the top time in the Northeast Conference and the seventh fastest time in the Northeast region.
• Freshman Mallory Hildreth (Pittsfield, Mass.) competed in the first indoor mile of her career, placing 10th at 5:22.58.
• Sophomore Katie Gibbons (Pembroke, Mass.) placed 10th in the 400-meter dash, clocking in at 1:04.07. Junior Aneka Andrews (McLean, Va.) came in 12th place, finishing just two-tenths of a second later at 1:04.27.
• Two Skyhawks finished in the top five of the 500-meter run, led by graduate student Kaytlin Encarnacao (Reading, Mass.), who crossed the finish line in 1:18.75, placing second overall. Junior Grace Tyrrell (Cavendish, Vt.) notched the third-best 500m time of her career, placing fourth, clocking in at 1:19.32.
• Sophomore Madison Stott (Dartmouth, Mass.) placed eighth in the 500m, finishing with a time of 1:20.64.
• Senior Emma Lawrence (Milford, Mass.) tallied an eighth-place finish in the 800-meter run, notching a time of 2:21.36.
• Freshman Emmy Belvin (Chepachet, R.I.) also competed in the 800m run, the first of her career as she placed 12th with a time of 2:23.31.
• Freshman Isabelle Groulx (Chester, N.H.) made her indoor 3000-meter debut, placing 11th as she clocked in at 11:42.8.
• In the 4x800-meter relay race, the team of Belvin, Malloy, Lawrence, and Hildreth placed third with a time of 9:39.79, the best time in the NEC.
• The squad of Encarnacao, Gibbons, Stott, and Tyrrell placed fourth out of 12 teams in the 4x400-meter relay race, combining for a time of 4:00.4.

• Stonehill Track and Field continues its indoor season next weekend at the TRACK at New Balance in Boston, Mass., where the team will compete in the River Hawk Invitational hosted by UMass Lowell on Saturday, Jan. 25.
