Le Moyne Stops Women's Basketball, 69-67

Bodziony bucket with 2.2 seconds left lifts Dolphins and caps game-high 21-point outing

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (January 20, 2025) – Postgrad Megan Bodziony scored a driving basket with 2.2 seconds to play to lift Le Moyne College to a 69-67 victory and hand Stonehill College its first Northeast Conference loss of the season in women's basketball action on Ted Grant Court tonight.

Bodziony's game winning bucket capped a game-high 21-point outing on 8-of-13 shooting for the Fordham and Bryant transfer, with five rebounds and two steals to lead Le Moyne to a second-straight win after opening with 16-straight defeats. She led four Dolphins in double-figures as fellow postgrad Haedyn Roberts added 13 points, connecting on 3-of-9 three-pointers, with seven rebounds, two assists, two blocked shots and a steal, while junior Sierra Linnin also recorded 13 points, hitting 3-of-6 from three, and two boards. Senior Brianna Williams rounded out Le Moyne's double-figure scorers with ten points, converting 6-of-8 free-throws to compliment 2-of-3 shooting off the bench, and seven rebounds.

Stonehill was paced by the post performances of postgrad Kylie Swider and senior Maureen Stapleton combined for 30 points on 14-of-22 shooting. Swider finished with a team-high 20 points on 10-of-15 shooting, netting 20 points for the second time this season, with six rebounds, two assists and a steal. Stapleton added ten points on 4-of-7 shooting, including 2-for-5 from three, six boards and four assists. Sophomore Brooke Paquette pulled down a career-high nine rebounds for the Skyhawks with seven assists, three steals and five points.

Le Moyne battled back from an 11-point third-quarter deficit to hand Stonehill its first NEC setback and snap the Skyhawks four-game winning streak, erasing a four-point margin entering the fourth quarter. Roberts opened the second half with a three-pointer that pulled Le Moyne within two (37-35), but Stonehill answered with four-straight from Swider to reclaim a six-point lead (41-35) two minutes into the third. That sparked a 12-3 Skyhawks run led by six points from Swider and capped by three-pointers from Stapleton and freshman Sydney McLaughlin to open the 11-point cushion (49-38) with 3:48 to play in the frame.

Le Moyne outscored Stonehill 10-3 over the remainder of the third to pull back within four (52-48) after Roberts canned a three-pointer to bookend the quarter with triples. The Dolphins pulled even (54-54) after two free throws from freshman Eli Clark less than two minutes into the fourth. The teams traded baskets for the next three minutes before Williams scored a second chance point with 5:24 remaining to push the Dolphins in front for the first time since the final minute of the opening quarter.

After sophomore Bella Mallory scored her first basket of the season with a nifty interior post move pushed Stonehill back in front with 4:16 remaining, Le Moyne scored the next four points at the free-throw line to grab a three-point lead (63-60) after two at the stripe from Roberts with 2:11 left.

Stonehill got a Swider hook shot and Stapleton three to reclaim the lead again (67-65) with 35 seconds to play. Linnin knotted the score with two free throws and then after a Skyhawks offensive foul, Bodziony provided the winning basket with 2.2 seconds to play with a drive down the left side of the lane.
