FIRST HALF
- The Sharks came out strong on both ends of the floor, building a 15-2 lead over the Skyhawks in the first eight minutes.
- Stonehill began to fight back, going on a 17-6 run of its own, capped off by a Semona three-pointer that made it a two-point game, 21-19.
- LIU extinguished the Skyhawk run and was able to hold onto a 30-24 lead heading into the break.
SECOND HALF
- The Sharks continued to fend off the Skyhawks, but a quick five points from Semona followed by a three from sophomore Alex Bates IV (Charlotte, N.C.) finally brought Stonehill level with LIU, 42-42.
- The Skyhawks took their first lead of the game with 7:30 remaining in the game as sophomore Todd Brogna (Southborough, Mass.) broke a 47-47 tie with a nice finish at the rim.
- The Sharks countered with an 11-2 run over the next four and a half minutes, regaining a 58-51 lead.
- A corner three from Stinson, followed by a quick layup from Semona, gave the Skyhawks a chance down 60-58, but after another miscue from the Sharks, Stonehill missed its chance to tie the score with eight seconds left on the clock.
- Semona went one for two at the free throw line, and after a pair of made free throws from LIU, freshman Hermann Koffi's (Quebec City, Quebec) three-point attempt at the buzzer fell short of the mark as the Sharks held on to win, 62-59.
