LIU Shuts Out Softball in NEC Matchup

EASTON, MASS. (March 23, 2025) – The Stonehill College softball team dropped a Northeast Conference contest against LIU, 8-0, at Fr. Gartland Field in six innings on Sunday.

LIU 8 (10-17, 4-2 NEC), Stonehill 0 (6-16, 0-6 NEC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Three of the first four batters of the game drew walks and Dallas Andrews drove in two of them with a single through the right side of the infield to give LIU a 2-0 lead in the top of the first.

Three more runs came across for the Sharks in the top of the third after two singles and two walks, followed by a wild pitch and a double steal. Sophomore Harper Sullivan (Glendale, Ariz.) relieved sophomore Alex Sciarretto (Bristol, Conn.) in the fourth inning, recording three straight outs before giving up three singles and a run in the fifth. Sullivan left runners on first and second, forcing back-to-back flyouts to get out of the inning with LIU leading 6-0.

The Sharks loaded the bases with no outs in the sixth inning and scored two runs on a fielder's choice to the shortstop to go ahead 8-0.

The Skyhawks went down 1-2-3 in the sixth as LIU secured the series sweep, going 3-0 against Stonehill in NEC play this weekend.
