BRONX, N.Y. (March 23, 2025) – The Stonehill College men's tennis team fell to non-conference opponent Fordham University, 7-0 at the Hawthorn-Rooney Courts in The Bronx, New York Sunday afternoon. With the loss, the Skyhawks dropped to 6-8 overall, while the Rams improved to 5-7 on the year.
Highlights
- First-year duo Nicolas Arredondo and Guillermo Bennaton picked up the lone victory for the Skyhawks at No. 2 doubles.
- Arredondo and Bennaton now rank second on the team with six wins as a double's combination, only behind senior Jacob Wilhelm Krefting and junior Mark Kröll who have tallied 12 victories on the year.
- Junior Dhillon Virdee-Oakley and freshman Will Lokier led the Rams as double winners on the day.
How It Happened
- Sophomore Dhananjay Athreya and Virdee-Oakley opened the match with a 6-3 win over Wilhelm Krefting and Kröll at No. 1 doubles.
- Arredondo and Bennaton combined to defeat graduate student Phillip Uhde and freshman Filip Horak, 6-4, to force a deciding third doubles matchup.
- Lokier and freshman Nicolas Garnier clinched the doubles point for Fordham with a 6-1 triumph over senior Guillaume Duhil de Bénazé and freshman Javier Gutierrez.
- Bennaton and Wilhelm Krefting battled to three-set matches at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively.
- Virdee-Oakley capped off his individual double win with a win over Bennaton at No. 1 singles, while Horak took down Wilhelm Krefting on the No. 2 singles court.
- Lokier secured his double win on the day and the overall match victory for the Rams at the No. 3 singles position, defeating Arredondo 6-0, 6-2.
- Junior Ruben Russwurm, freshman Andro Barrientos, and Jeremy Victory rounded out the singles sweep for Fordham with wins at No. 4, 5, and 6 singles, respectively.
