LOUISVILLE, Ky. (March 9, 2025) – The Stonehill College softball team fell to Ball State University, 6-0, on the final day of the Bellarmine Invitational at Knights Field on Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Ball State scored in the top of the first inning with two outs after a pair of walks got a runner in scoring position followed by an RBI single to right field by
Kara Gunter. A second run came in on a bases loaded walk as the Cardinals led 2-0 after the first.
Both offenses were held in check with great pitching from both sides until the fifth inning when
McKayla Timmons launched a two-run home run over the right field fence to double Ball State's lead to 4-0. The Cardinals tacked on two more runs with an RBI single and a sacrifice fly to build a 6-0 lead in the fifth.

Ella Whitney and
Jessica Hoffman combined to throw seven innings of shutout work, securing the 6-0 win for the Cardinals.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Whitney improved to 8-1 for Ball State, hurling six innings, allowing four hits while striking out two. Hoffman pitched the seventh for the Cardinals, setting the Skyhawks down in order.
- Sophomore Harper Sullivan (Glendale, Ariz.) started for the Skyhawks falling to 0-1 with just 0.2 IP, giving up one hit and two runs in the circle.
- Freshman Amelia Styskal-Ward (Hermosa Beach, Calif.) made her second appearance in the circle for Stonehill, going two innings, allowing one hit and one run (unearned).
- Four Skyhawks recorded base hits but they were all singles as Stonehill was held without an extra-base hit.

- Stonehill softball travels to the University of Miami (OH) in Oxford, Ohio for a 5 p.m. first pitch at Miami Softball Stadium, kicking off a three-day, four-game road trip for the Skyhawks in Ohio.
