Softball Drops Bellarmine Invitational Finale to Ball State, 6-0

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (March 9, 2025) – The Stonehill College softball team fell to Ball State University, 6-0, on the final day of the Bellarmine Invitational at Knights Field on Sunday.

Ball State 6 (12-6, 0-0 MAC), Stonehill 0 (5-5, 0-0 NEC),

HOW IT HAPPENED

Ball State scored in the top of the first inning with two outs after a pair of walks got a runner in scoring position followed by an RBI single to right field by Kara Gunter. A second run came in on a bases loaded walk as the Cardinals led 2-0 after the first.

Both offenses were held in check with great pitching from both sides until the fifth inning when McKayla Timmons launched a two-run home run over the right field fence to double Ball State's lead to 4-0. The Cardinals tacked on two more runs with an RBI single and a sacrifice fly to build a 6-0 lead in the fifth.

Ball State's Ella Whitney and Jessica Hoffman combined to throw seven innings of shutout work, securing the 6-0 win for the Cardinals.
