NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (April 19, 2025) – The Stonehill College softball team dropped its series finale against Central Connecticut State University on Saturday, 10-1, at the CCSU Softball Field in a Northeast Conference matchup.

HOW IT HAPPENED
CCSU opened the scoring in the bottom of the first with a two-run home run to center field before adding another two runs later in the inning with a double into the left centerfield gap.
Junior
Jessica Brill (Natick, Mass.) led off the top of the second with a single and eventually scored on a ground out to third by senior
Shannon Conte (Amesbury, Mass.).
The Blue Devils added two more runs to their lead in the bottom of the second on an RBI single and a sacrifice fly. CCSU put the game out of reach in the third when KC Machado tallied her second home run, blasting a grand slam to left field to make the score 10-1.
The game ended in the fifth inning with the Blue Devils securing the NEC win, 10-1.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Brill recorded a base hit for the sixth game in a row, and Hofmann also added a base hit to extend her on-base streak to five games.
- Hofmann also recorded a stolen base, her fourth of the season on six attempts.
- Sophomore Alex Sciarretto (Bristol, Conn.) dropped to 1-3 in the circle while sophomore Alexa Hospodar (Old Bethpage, N.Y.) pitched 1.1 innings in relief, allowing just one hit and no runs.
