Men's Soccer Upended by Holy Cross

EASTON, Mass. – The Stonehill men's soccer team was edged by Holy Cross, 2-1, in non-conference action on Wednesday afternoon.
 
STONEHILL HIGHLIGHTS
  • Nate Monteiro scored his first goal of the season in the 20th minute off a rebound.
  • James Forrest-Hay recorded his second assist of the season connecting on Monteiro's 20' goal.
  • Tyler Sloan registered seven saves in net for the Skyhawks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
It was an evenly match contest, but Skyhawks struck first in the 20th minute. Coming up the near side of the field was Dylan Walsh, who sent a long ball down to James Forrest-Hay. Forrest-Hay fired a bullet towards the net that was rejected by Mateo Buyu. However, Nate Monteiro was right there to clean up and knocked in his first goal of the season to give Stonehill the 1-0 lead.

 
 
The Crusaders evened the match at one goal each 10 minutes later with Kyle Martell connecting with Thomas Mancuso. Two minutes later Holy Cross took the 2-1 lead with a goal by Archie Hatcher in the 32nd minute.
 
Stonehill was not going away and put up a fight against the Crusaders. Junior goalkeeper Tyler Sloan was solid in net registering seven total saves, including four in the second half. But they were unable to come up with the equalizer.
