CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Stonehill volleyball team fell to Bryant University in four sets, 3-1, in their first match of the day on Saturday afternoon.

STONEHILL HIGHLIGHTS

• Junior Sammy Franco posted a .348 attack percentage with 10 kills on 23 attempts and just two errors, while notching a block assist.
• Senior Mia Berardino also tallied a team-high 10 kills, while coming a dig shy of her second consecutive double-double.
• Freshman Kendra Sawyer registered a double-double, pacing the offense with 20 assists with 13 digs.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Skyhawks rocketed out the gate. Posting a .312 attack percentage as a team in the first, Stonehill took the 1-0 match lead edging out the Bryant, 25-21. Senior Mia Berardino went four of six with one miscue from the floor, while freshman Samantha Loyd led the way with five kills.

However, the Bulldogs answered in the second set. Hitting .500 in the second set with 14 kills on 26 attempts and only one error, Bryant evened the match with a 25-16 win. The Skyhawks were not backing down and continued to hit well, registering a .294 attack percentage in the third set. But it was not enough to keep pace with the Bulldog offense took the third set, 25-16, before claiming the fourth set and the match, 25-9.
