EASTON, Mass. (Sept. 27, 2025) – The Stonehill football team forced two turnovers en route to a 10-3 victory over LIU in the NEC opener Saturday afternoon before 1,800 fans at W.B. Mason Stadium.
The Skyhawks improve to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in the NEC, while the Sharks slip to 1-4 and 0-1 in league play.
STONEHILL HIGHLIGHTS:
- Charles Battaglia led the way defensively with two of Stonehill's three sacks. Battaglia also recorded nine tackles overall.

- Sidoine Djimbou and Spencer Davila each intercepted passes for the Skyhawks' defense.

- Jack O'Connell went 15-of-19 for 162 yards and a touchdown.

- Zachary Kim had a 12-yard touchdown reception and leads the team with four TDs on the season.

- Stonehill's three points allowed was the fewest surrendered by the Skyhawks since a 76-0 in over Post University on Sept. 10, 2022 at W.B. Mason Stadium.

- Logan Chenette had three punts for a 48.3 average, including a game-best 60-yarder.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Skyhawks grabbed a 3-0 lead on the first play of the second quarter, as
Domenic Scalese buried a 23-yard field goal at the 14:56 mark.
Later in the quarter,
Anthony Busa tackled LIU's Jaiden Dozier at the 2-yard line on a fourth down play to keep Stonehill on top.
In the second half, LIU's Will Johnson converted a 31-yard field goal with 3:33 remaining in the third to time the game, 3-3.
In the fourth, Stonehill retook the lead when O'Connell tossed a pass into the left corner of the endzone, finding Kim for a 12-yard TD strike, making it a 10-3 contest with 10:43 left to play.

Stonehill (2-3, 1-0 NEC) will head on the road to face Duquesne (2-3, 0-0 NEC) in another NEC contest Saturday, Oct. 4 at 12 p.m. Â
