Box Score EASTON, Mass. – The Stonehill women's volleyball team fell back to .500 in NEC action following a five-set barn-burner against the University of New England late Saturday afternoon.
STONEHILL HIGHLIGHTS
- Freshman Kendra Sawyer surpassed Stonehill's Division I record, notching 61 assists in the five-setter.
- Senior Mia Berardino posted a .298 attack percentage with 19 kills on 47 attempts and five errors, while tallying 17 digs for her fourth double-double of season.
- Four Skyhawks registered double figure kills, freshman Emaline Ealey tallied 19, while freshman Sam Loyd followed up with 18 kills and junior Abby Farrell tallied 11.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Skyhawks carried momentum from last night's win as they took. 1-0 match lead with the 25-22 win. Junior
Abby Farrell led the way hitting .714 with six kills, while freshman
Sam Loyd followed up with six kills of her own.
However, the Chargers answered and evened the match at 1-1 claiming the second set, 25-17. It didn't hold for very long as Stonehill returned to form and took the one-game lead, edging out New Haven, 25-22, in the third set. Senior
Mia Berardino posted a .583 attack percentage with eight kills on 12 attempts and just one error.
New Haven would not go away and forced a decisive fifth set with a 25-18 fourth set victory. The deciding fifth set was a back-and-forth battle with 15 ties and six lead changes. Neither team was backing down, but the Chargers were able to get the best of the Skyhawks winning the fight, 22-20.
