EASTON, MASS. (Sept. 6, 2025) – The Stonehill football team faced Lafayette in its home opener, falling by a score of 42-26 before 2,351 fans at W.B. Mason Stadium Saturday afternoon. The Skyhawks move to 0-2, 0-0 NEC, while the Leopards stand at 1-1, 0-0 Patriot League.

- Zachary Kim had an 11-yard touchdown catch in the first half and a 32-yard TD reception in the second half for the Skyhawks, giving him three TD receptions on the season. Kim caught six passes for 78 yards overall.

- Aidan Henry's 38-yard TD reception was the longest play from scrimmage for Stonehill's offense.

- Richard Mosley III had a 90-yard fumble return for a touchdown in the fourth, the first fumble return for a TD over 70 yard for the Skyhawks since 2009.

- Jack O'Connell completed 25 passes for 269 yards and had three touchdown passes on the day.

- Tyler Bannon and Anthony Busa paced the Stonehill defense. Bannon made eight tackles, forced a fumble and had two tackles for a loss, while Busa recorded seven tackles and an interception.
How it Happened
Lafayette got the scoring going with a four-yard rush by Kente Edwards, capping a 10-play, 75-yard drive, making it 7-0 with 4:59 remaining in the first.
In the second frame, Edwards found the endzone again with a two-yard dash, as the Leopards led, 14-0, at the 14:12 mark. Later in the quarter, Stonehill culminated a six-play, 60-yard drive with an 11-yard TD reception from O'Connell to
Zachary Kim, 14-6, with 11:39 to go in the half. Lafayette responded with a 29-yard dash by Jason Penza on the ensuing drive to go back up by multiple scores, 21-6, at 9:16. Lafayette added a score on its next drive, claiming a 28-6 advantage.
Later on, the Leopards tacked on two touchdowns in the third quarter, but Stonehill responded with a 38-yard TD strike from O'Connell to Aidan Herny with 3:15 remaining in the stanza, 42-13.
Early in the fourth, O'Connell found Kim again for a Stonehill score, as Kim grabbed a deflected pass and came down in the endzone for a 32-yard touchdown to cut the Skyhawks' deficit to 42-20, with 14:27 remaining. The Skyhawks' defense had its own highlight play for a score as
Richard Mosley III picked up a fumble and returned it 90 yards for a scoop and score with 6:41 to go, 42-26.
