ORONO, Maine. (Sept. 7, 2025) – The Stonehill field hockey team completed its two-game road trip, falling by a score of 5-1 at Maine Sunday afternoon. The Skyhawks move to 0-4, 0-0 NEC, while the Black Bears stand at 2-2.
STONEHILL HIGHLIGHTS
- Freshman goalkeeper Isabelle Morton recorded a career-high seven saves in net for Stonehill.
- Freshman Havana De Roeck tallied her first-career goal in the third quarter.
- The Skyhawks fired a season-high six shots on goal against Maine. The Black Bears led in shots, 15-11, overall.
HOW IT HAPPENED
In the first quarter, Maine struck first with a goal off a penalty stroke by Eloise Penty at the 6:32 mark. Later in the frame, the Black Bears made it 2-0 with a score from Taylor Katsube off assists from Penty and Nicole Kowalewski at 13:56.
Later in the half, Penty scored her second penalty stroke goal of the day, as Maine led, 3-0, with just over 10 minutes left in the second. The Black Bears added one more goal before the break off a shot by Martha Barratt at 24:54.
In the third, Stonehill responded with a goal off the stick of
Havana De Roeck off an assist from
Emma McGrory at the 35:07 mark.
Maine capped the scoring with Barratt's second goal of the game with 8:07 remaining in the contest.

Stonehill (0-4, 0-0 NEC) will travel to face Holy Cross (1-3, 0-0 Patriot League) for a non-conference matchup in Worcester, Mass. on Friday, Sept. 12 at 6 p.m.
