Androlewicz Reaches 1,500 Saves as Men’s Hockey Falls 2–0 at Vermont

BURLINGTON, Vt. (January 31, 2026) – The Stonehill College men's hockey team was shut out in its weekend finale Saturday night, falling 2–0 at the University of Vermont in Burlington. With the loss, the Skyhawks slipped to 5-18-2 on the season, while the Catamounts improved to 11-14-0 overall.

Highlights
  • Stonehill won the faceoff battle, 34–21, while Vermont held the edge in shots on goal, 29–19.
  •  Junior Anthony Galante led the Skyhawks with a season-high seven shots on goal.
  • Sophomore Billy Renfrew won a game-high 15 of 19 faceoffs, while junior Dominick Campione paced Stonehill with two blocked shots.
  • Graduate goaltender Connor Androlewicz surpassed the 1,500 career saves milestone after making 27 stops in goal.

How It Happened
Vermont came out of the gates strong, dominating offensive-zone possession throughout the opening 20 minutes of regulation and outshooting Stonehill, 14–1, in the first period. Midway through the frame, the Catamounts broke through when Thomas Sinclair connected with Dawson Good for his second goal of the season, a tally that would ultimately stand as the game-winner.

Stonehill generated a trio of early shot attempts and offensive chances to begin the second period, including a 2-on-1 rush featuring sophomore Zach Nicolas and freshman Pat Murphy. The opportunity went by the wayside, however, as the cross-ice feed trickled just wide of the Vermont net. Following the Skyhawks' early push, the two sides settled into a back-and-forth stretch, trading late power-play opportunities and heading into the second intermission with Vermont holding a 1–0 edge.

Midway through the final period, Stonehill returned to the power play in search of the equalizer, but the Catamounts' penalty kill held firm, denying six Skyhawk shot attempts during the two-minute advantage to preserve the one-goal lead with eight minutes remaining in regulation.
After pulling the goaltender with two minutes to play, Stonehill pushed for the tying goal, but Vermont put the game out of reach with 1:24 remaining. Philip Törnqvist sent a full-length saucer shot into the empty net, sealing the 2–0 victory for the Catamounts.
