Four Skyhawks Reach Double Figures in Women’s Basketball’s 71-53 Victory Over CCSU

EASTON, Mass. (Jan. 8, 2026) – The Stonehill women's basketball team toppled Central Connecticut State by a score of 71-53 at Merkert Gymnasium Thursday evening.

The win moves the Skyhawks to 5-9 overall (1-2 NEC), while the Blue Devils slip to 0-14 (0-3 NEC).

STONEHILL HIGHLIGHTS:
  • Brooke Paquette surpassed the 800-point mark for her career at Stonehill, and she finished with 18 points, six assists, three steals and four rebounds.
  • For the fifth time this season, Stonehill had at least four players score in double digits (Paquette – 18, Ella Pelletier – 12, Julia Webster – 12 and Breana Delaney 11).
     
  • The Skyhawks owned an edge in rebounds, 44-24, for the game. Phoena Dadson grabbed a career-high eight boards.
     
  • Stonehill had a season-best 20 assists as a team.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Breana Delaney scored five early points in the first quarter, as the Skyhawks held a 9-8 lead at the first media timeout of the contest. Ella Pelletier also netted five points in the opening frame, and the teams headed to the second knotted at 18-18.



Later in the half, Brooke Paquette drilled a trey to five Stonehill a 30-25 lead, and with that triple, the junior guard surpassed 800 points in her collegiate career. Paquette finished the half with 11 points, followed by nine for Delaney, as the Skyhawks owned a 38-31 edge on the scoreboard through 20 minutes at Merkert Gymnasium.

As the game moves to the second half, the teams traded buckets through much of the third, but Julia Webster gave the Skyhawks a seven-point cushion when she took a pass from Paquette and finished with a layup, 49-42, with 3:47 remaining in the period.

Stonehill remained in control, and the Skyhawks extended its lead to 61-47 when Paquette earned her second and-one in the matter of minutes.

UP NEXT:
Stonehill (5-9, 1-2 NEC) will head back on the road to visit Chicago State (1-14, 0-2 NEC) on Saturday, Jan. 10 at 1 p.m. CST.
