How it Happened
Stonehill controlled possession throughout the opening 20 minutes of play, creating an early opportunity to take the lead. At the 9:33 mark, Lomuscio sent a shot just high of the Mercyhurst net, narrowly missing the opening goal.

Despite the Skyhawks' strong start, Mercyhurst struck first at the 26:19 mark when Gabrielle Garcia converted a cross from Julia Bullock to give the Lakers a 1-0 advantage.

Trailing by one to open the second half, Stonehill pushed for the equalizer, outshooting Mercyhurst 13-3 over the final 45 minutes. At the 58:39 mark, Lomuscio narrowly missed leveling the score as her shot glanced off the crossbar.

Sougaris kept the Skyhawks within striking distance at the 64:50 mark, making a leaping punch save on a shot from Jenna Popowski to preserve the one-goal deficit.

Stonehill continued to apply pressure over the final 25 minutes, peppering the Lakers' defense with shot attempts in search of the equalizer. However, the Skyhawks were unable to find the back of the net, falling to Mercyhurst, 1-0, at Skyhawk Field.
