How it Happened
New Hampshire came out of the gates strong, jumping out to a two-goal lead just under five minutes into the non-conference tilt. Duffer stood tall early, denying several grade-A scoring chances by the Wildcats, but a breakdown in front of the net followed by a deflection off a Skyhawk defender resulted in consecutive goals from Sofia Kari and Catie Putt, respectively.
Danika Botterill added to the Wildcats' lead with her team-leading seventh goal of the season at the 13:39 mark, capping the first-period scoring.
Josie Linn and Nina Rossi extended New Hampshire's lead to five before the end of the second period. Kari then found the back of the net for her second goal of the game at the 11:07 mark of the third period to round out the scoring. Despite being outshot, 27-15, over the final 40 minutes, Stonehill netminders Duffer and Schumm held firm in the crease, combining to allow just three goals on 27 shots faced across the second and third periods.
