WEST POINT, N.Y. (October 5, 2026) – The Stonehill College men's tennis team competed at the Army Invitational over the weekend, facing competition from Hofstra, Army, LIU, Sacred Heart, and FDU.
In singles competition, the Skyhawks combined for 12 victories across the weekend.
Joao Machado, Guillermo Bennaton, Alessandro Munoz, Hector Cebrian, Nicolas Arredondo, and
Guillem Davasse Vidal each picked up multiple singles wins, while
Jacob Borch-Nielsen and
Hayden Grech also earned victories.
Machado posted a perfect 2-0 record in singles play, defeating Hofstra's Luke Prokopis, 6-0, 6-1, before earning a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Army's Grady Callahan. Bennaton also earned a win while leading in a second match, defeating Hofstra's Max Frias, 6-3, 4-0, via retirement, before carrying a 7-6, 5-3 lead against LIU's Leonidas Lazarides when the match was left unfinished.
Munoz earned wins over Hofstra's Colton Parker, 6-4, 6-2, and LIU's Jack Brimm, 6-0, 6-2, while Cebrian defeated Hofstra's Jack Prokopis, 6-1, 6-2, and LIU's Jonathan Kurian, 7-6, 6-0. Arredondo added a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Hofstra's Lucas Bikkesbakker.
In doubles action, Arredondo and Machado led the way for Stonehill, posting a perfect 3-0 record. The duo opened with a 6-2 victory over Hofstra's Ferdinand Witting and Darren Huang before defeating Hofstra's Matias Lofink and J. Anthony Maravillas, 6-4. Arredondo and Machado capped the weekend with a 7-6 victory over FDU's Ko Nagashima and Vincenzo Marchese.
Davasse Vidal and Grech also picked up a doubles victory, cruising past Hofstra's Michael Heinisch and Frank Klimovitz, 6-0.
