Men's Basketball Held Off by New Haven on the Road

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (Feb. 19, 2026) – The Stonehill men's basketball team dropped the season series to New Haven following a 64-51 loss on Thursday evening.

STONEHILL HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Skyhawks' bench outscored the Chargers' bench, 14-7.
HOW IT HAPPENED
New Haven were strong out of the gate, building an 11-point lead. But methodically tides began to shift over to the Skyhawks. Senior guard Rex Sunderland knocked down a pair of long distance threes during a 12-2 run that pulled the Skyhawks to within two going into halftime.

When the teams returned at the start of the second half, the Chargers made it a two possession game, going ahead by five. However, senior guard Ethan Meuser answered ripping down an offensive board and laying it back up for a quick two points to cut the deficit to three.

Shooting 40% in the second half, the Chargers extended their lead to 11 midway through the second period, but the Skyhawks were not backing down. They cut the deficit to four with five minutes remaining on a second chance bucket by senior guard Chas Stinson, but it was as close they would get.
