Sarah Taylor slugged the Skyhawks' first homeruns of the season, despite the Stonehill softball team falling to Central Michigan and the Ohio on Saturday.
Central Michigan 7, Stonehill 2
Central Michigan jumped out to an early lead in their first game of the day, pushing across five runs in the home half of the first to take a 5-0 lead. They added another an inning later to extend the lead to six, but junior left-hander
Harper Sullivan kept the Chippewas at bay tossing 3.2 innings of solid relief, while striking out one.
Freshman
Jade Sanders broke up the shutout, launching her first collegiate career homerun in the top of the fifth to put the Skyhawks on the board. Two innings later, sophomore
Sarah Taylor led of the seventh with a solo shot to left field.
Ohio University 12, Stonehill 3
In game two of the day, the Bobcats started strong scoring a pair of runs in the first two innings to take a 4-0 lead. However, the Skyhawks answered and cut the deficit to one, pushing across three runs in the top of the third.
With runners in scoring position and two outs in the top of the third, sophomore
Sarah Taylor lined a base-hit up the middle to plate
Natalie Bottiglieri and
Juli Murillo. Taylor came in to score moments later when McKenzie reached on an error by the third baseman.
But the Bobcats responded batting around in the home half of the third to put up a crooked number seven to break the game open.
