CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (March 1, 2026) – The Stonehill softball team concluded the Austin Peay Governors Classic falling to, host, Austin Peay, 10-2, on Sunday afternoon.
STONEHILL HIGHTLIGHTS
- Junior Harper Sullivan went 3-for-3 with an RBI.
- Sophomore Sarah Taylor went 1-for-2 with an RBI from the middle of the Skyhawks' line up.
- Freshman Juli Murillo went 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After a scoreless first inning, the Skyhawks jumped on the scoreboard first pushing across a run in the top of the second inning. Freshman
Jade Sanders began the inning beating out an infield single. Two batters later, junior
Harper Sullivan took a pitch the opposite way towards shortstop to plate pinch runner sophomore
Jenny Olson from second.
The Governors answered scoring twice in the home half of the second to take a 2-1 lead, but the Skyhawks responded in the top of the third. Freshman
Juli Murillo led off the frame with an RBI double into left center. She came in to tie the game on a sacrifice fly off the bat of
Sarah Taylor two batters later to help her own cause.
Taylor retired the side in order in the bottom of the third. Austin Peay re-gained the lead scoring once in the bottom of the fourth before putting up five runs in the fifth to take an 8-2 lead.
