Box Score STORRS, Conn. (March 10, 2026) – In their first game back in New England this season, a late inning rally came up short for the Stonehill softball team as they fall to UConn, 7-3, on Tuesday afternoon.
STONEHILL HIGHLIGHTS
- Junior left-hander Harper Sullivan went 1-for-2 with a double.
- Sophomore Sarah Taylor scored the first run of the game in the top of the first and finished the game 1-for-3.
- Sophomore Taylor Schoonmaker made a highlight reel, shoe-string catch in the bottom of the fourth, while going 1-for-3 at the plate with triple in the seventh.
- Freshman McKenzie Caron drove in her first collegiate career RBI in the top of sixth with a bases loaded walk.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Skyhawks scored first, taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. After
Sarah Taylor worked a two-out walk and advanced to third on a double by
Harper Sullivan, Taylor came in to score the first run of the game on a chopper to first, off the bat of
McKenzie Caron.
It was a short-lived lead as the Huskies sent 10 batters to plate to put up a crooked number four and take a 4-1 lead. But Skyhawk reliever
Harper Sullivan settled down and retired the Huskies in order in the home half of the second. Sullivan retired the next five batters she faced before giving up a two-out single in the bottom of the third.
UConn extended their lead in the fourth, manufacturing their fifth run of the game before adding two more on a two-run homerun in the fifth.
The Skyhawks finally got to Huskies pitching in the top of the sixth. Caron drove in her first collegiate career RBI with a bases loaded walk to plate
