CHARLESTON, S.C. (March 10, 2026) – The Stonehill College men's tennis team dropped a narrow 4-3 decision to The Citadel on Tuesday afternoon at the Earle Tennis Center to close out its South Carolina trip. With the result, the Skyhawks fell to 3-8 overall, while the Bulldogs improved to 3-15.
The teams split the first two doubles matches at No. 2 and No. 3, setting up a decisive contest at the top spot.
Guillermo Bennaton and
Javier Gutierrez defeated Reece Beckendorf and Anthony Osipov, 6-1, at No. 3 doubles, while Noah Van Dyke and Tucker Hendrix edged
Hector Cebrian and
Alessandro Munoz, 6-4, at No. 2.
At No. 1 doubles,
Nicolas Arredondo and
Benjamin Beaudry battled Ted Bagwell and Brady Gober in a tightly contested match. After trading games throughout, the Bulldogs' duo secured the doubles point with a 7-6 (11-9) tiebreak victory.
Stonehill responded in singles play with wins from Cebrian, Arredondo and Beaudry. Cebrian defeated Gober, 6-4, 7-5, at No. 2 singles, before Beaudry earned a 6-4, 6-3 victory at No. 3. Arredondo added the Skyhawks' third point with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Beckendorf at No. 5.
Despite splitting the six singles matches, Stonehill was unable to overcome the early deficit, as The Citadel's doubles point proved the difference in the 4-3 decision.

Stonehill (3-8, 0-3 NEC) will return to action on Saturday, March 21, traveling to Providence, Rhode Island for a non-conference match against Brown at 4 p.m.
