EASTON, Mass. (March 25, 2026) – The Stonehill College softball team split Wednesday afternoon's non-conference doubleheader with Maine following a 7-3 win in game one.
STONEHILL HIGHLIGHTS
- Junior Harper Sullivan registered her 100th career base-hit going 3-for-4 with four RBI at the plate in game one.
- Freshman Juli Murillo recorded a career single-game high in game one, going 4-for-4 at the plate with three runs scored.
- Sophomore Taylor Schoonmaker went 5-for-8 with four runs scored from the top of the Skyhawk lineup ton the day.
- Freshman Juliana Alicea went 2-for-3 with two RBI in game two.
- Junior Alexa Hospodar picked up her first win of the season tossing a complete game in game one allowing just one earned run on two hits and striking out two.
GAME 1: STONEHILL 7, MAINE 3
The Skyhawks were quick to grab a 2-0 lead in the home half of the first. Junior
Harper Sullivan ripped a single into left center to plate both sophomore
Taylor Schoonmaker and freshman
Juli Murillo with the game's first runs.
After Maine cut the Stonehill lead in half in the top of the second, the Skyhawk bats remained red-hot, adding to their lead in the second. With runners at the corners and two outs, sophomore
Sarah Taylor pulled a single through the left side to bring home Schoonmaker. Two batters later Sullivan came through with a base-hit back up the middle to bring home Murillo and Taylor and give the Skyhawks the 5-1 lead.
It was more than enough for junior right-hander
Alexa Hospodar who earned the victory tossing a complete game seven innings allowing just one earned run on two hits.
GAME 2: MAINE 7, STONEHILL 5
The Black Bears scored first, pushing across two runs in the top of the first of game two. But the Skyhawks got one run back on an RBI single by freshman
Juliana Alicea.
Maine extended its lead back to two runs, scoring in the top of the second, but Stonehill was not going away quietly. They chipped their way back into the game and took a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the third thanks to a two-run homerun by sophomore
Sarah Taylor.
It was a short-lived lead as Maine answered, scoring once in the fourth the tie the game before putting up three runs in the fifth. Senior
Jessica Brill sent an 0-1 offering over the right centerfield in the bottom of the sixth, but the Black Bears were able to hang on to the lead.
