Box Score 2 WORCESTER, Mass. (March 31, 2026) – The Stonehill softball team swept Holy Cross in a midweek non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon. The Skyhawks defeated the Crusaders 11-3 in game before earning the 7-3 victory in game two.
STONEHILL HIGHLIGHTS
- Junior Harper Sullivan went 4-for-5 with a double, a walk and three RBI form the middle of the order on the afternoon.
- Junior Alexa Hospodar threw just 62 pitches in seven innings to earn her second win of the season.
- Sophomore Taylor Schoonmaker went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI and a run scored in game two.
- Sophomore Sarah Taylor went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI in game one.
- Junior Alex Sciarretto picked up her first victory of the season, tossing four innings allowing just two earned runs and striking out one in game one.
GAME 1: STONEHILL 11, HOLY CROSS 3
The Crusaders were quick to jump on the scoreboard first, pushing across a pair of runs in the home half of the first. But the Skyhawks answered in the top of the second.
Senior catcher
Jessica Brill roped a one-out double into the left centerfield gap to plate pinch-runner Luke Bornhorst. Three batters later, junior
Haleigh Reed gave Stonehill the 3-2 lead with clutch two-out double to bring home Brill and
Grace Conaway.
Holy Cross got the run right back in the bottom of the third to tie the game, but the ballgame did not stay tied for very long. The Skyhawks sent 14 batters to the plate in the top of the third to put up a crooked number eight and take a 11-3 lead.
After giving up a run in the bottom of the third, junior right-hander
Alex Sciarretto kept the Crusaders off balance retiring the next seven batters she faced before allowing a single to lead off the fifth. But Sciarretto was still able to earn her first win of the season.
GAME 2: STONEHILL 7, HOLY CROSS 1
Stonehill took an early lead scoring twice in the top of the first inning, taking advantage of a pair of Crusader errors. Junior
Harper Sullivan lined a double down the left field line to plate Murillo and increase the lead to three.
Junior right-hander
Alexa Hospodar was efficient for the Skyhawks in the circle. Retiring the first six batters she faced, Hospodar tossed just 43 pitches through the first five innings.
The Skyhawks put the game out of reach pushing across three runs in the top of the fifth to extend their lead to 7-1 and there was no looking back.
