ERIE, Pa. (March 28, 2026) – The Stonehill women's lacrosse team earned its third-straight victory, as the Skyhawks downed Mercyhurst by a score of 23-8 at Saxon Stadium Saturday morning.
The win sends Stonehill to 6-6 (3-1 NEC), while the Lakers slip to 1-8 (1-3 NEC).

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Stonehill went up 3-0 early on, as
Grace Murphy (12:58).
Sophia Gouveia (11:53) and
Meaghan Fealy (10:28) each scored in the first five minutes of the contest. Late in the first,
Taylor Green added a player-up goal as the Skyhawks led, 4-1, at the 3:20 mark.
Heading to the second quarter with Stonehill up, 4-2, the Skyhawks upped its lead to five goals, as Murphy and Green scored right away at 14:30 and 14:01, respectively. Murphy then clinched her hat trick with a tally at 12:27. After the Lakers got back within three, 7-4, Murphy took over and netted three more goals in the second stanza to give her six for the game. Murphy made it 8-4 with 9:50 remaining in the quarter, followed by a score by
Neave Bowman at 7:25, 9-4. Murphy then netted back-to-back scores at 6:42 and 5:54, while Fealy tallied her second of the game at the 3:43 mark. Gouveia capped the scoring in the half with her second tally with 1:57 to go, as Stonehill carried a 13-4 lead into the break.
In the third, the Skyhawks tallied five more goals to break the game wide open. Gouveia scored her third of the contest at 13:25, and then moments later, Murphy netted her seventh goal of the game at 13:13 to make it 15-5. Later in the quarter,
Caitlin Ruggiero (10:14) and Gouveia (6:05) capitalized on player-up chances, before
Natalie Coutu found the back of the net at 2:59, as the Skyhawks led, 18-5, through three periods.
Green opened the scoring in the final frame with her third tally at the 13:40 mark, and then
Cameron Flaherty fired a shot for a goal with 9:12 to go, 20-7. In the final minutes, Bowman scored again at 4:06, and then Green netted her fourth of the day with 2:44 remaining, 22-8. Green followed with her fifth tally at 2:01 to cap the scoring, 23-8.
