How It Happened
Senior netminder
Eve Stone stood tall between the pipes, holding the Ravens off the scoreboard despite facing heavy pressure. Stone denied all 38 shots she faced through the opening two periods, delivering a stellar performance to keep the game even.
Stonehill eventually rewarded its goaltender's effort, breaking the deadlock at the 12:20 mark of the third period. Kenmore sent a backhanded pass up the boards to Feeney, who walked the blue line and fired a shot toward the net. The attempt produced a rebound off the pads of Franklin Pierce goaltender Jill Hertl, which bounced out to Spadone. With a wide-open net in front of her, Spadone buried the puck for her sixth goal of the season to give Stonehill the 1–0 lead.
In the waning moments of regulation, however, Franklin Pierce would find the equalizer on the power play. Hailey Anderson received a feed from Addison Andre and fired a shot under the crossbar and over the shoulder of Stone, marking her ninth goal of the season and sending the game into overtime tied at one.
During the first overtime period, Stonehill flipped the momentum, outshooting Franklin Pierce 13–8. Despite the pressure, neither side was able to find the back of the net as the extra 20-minute frame expired, forcing a second overtime and the fifth period of hockey on the night.
Just 5:52 into the second overtime, Franklin Pierce would score the game-winning goal. After earning their fourth power-play opportunity of the night, Abigail Broz wristed a shot through traffic that found its way into the back of the cage, sealing the victory with her seventh goal of the season.
