EASTON, Mass. (April 11, 2026) – The Stonehill softball team split Saturday afternoon's doubleheader with Saint Francis, following a 6-4 victory in game two.
STONEHILL HIGHLIGHTS
- Senior Jessica Brill went 4-for-67with five RBI and two runs scored.
- Junior right-hander Alex Sciarretto earned her second win of the season tossing seven innings with four strikeouts in game two.
- Freshman Juli Murillo went 5-for-8 with two runs scored and an RBI on the day.
GAME 2: STONEHILL 6, SAINT FRANCIS 4
Stonehill took control early with two runs in the second inning, including a run scored by senior
Jessica Brill on a wild pitch. The decisive blow came in the bottom of the fifth, where the Skyhawks plated three runs. Junior
Haleigh Reed's RBI single followed by Brill's base hit into centerfield that plated both Reed and fellow junior
Harper Sullivan gave the Skyhawks a 5-0 advantage.
Although the Red Flash mounted a late-inning rally—scoring three runs in the sixth and one in the seventh—the Skyhawks' defense held firm.
Freshman
Juli Murillo added a crucial insurance run in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI single to score
Melanie Snyder, providing the necessary breathing room for junior
Alex Sciarretto to secure her second win of the season.
GAME 1: SAINT FRANCIS 7, STONEHILL 6 / 8 innings
The Skyhawks jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the home half of the first. Murillo led of the. Game with a base-hit before eventually scoring on a ground-out by
Haleigh Reed. Moments later, Brill drove in sophomore
Sarah Taylor with a single for the second Stonehill run.
After Saint Francis tied the game in the second and took a brief lead in the third, Sullivan tied it back up at three blasting a solo home run to right enter field.
The Skyhawks reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the fifth. With two runners on, Brill delivered again, lining a double to left field to plate pinch-runners
Kaileigh Mares and
Luka Bornhorst, making it 5-3. Taylor added an insurance run in the sixth with an RBI double that scored Murillo, extending the Stonehill lead to 6-3, heading into the final frame.
However, the Red Flash answered with three runs in the top of the seventh to tie the game before scoring the game-winner in the top of the eighth.
