Senior Reflections

Written Senior Reflection - Lauren Molinaro, Women's Lacrosse

EASTON, Mass. – The 2025-2026 Senior Reflections is a series of annual collections. Senior representatives of teams at Stonehill have been invited to contribute and reflect on their personal experiences over their four-year careers at Stonehill - both on and off the playing surface.
Lauren Molinaro, Women's Lacrosse

Why Stonehill?
I was drawn to Stonehill as it is a small school with a large school feeling. The sense of community at Stonehill was something that I was looking for. The opportunity to play competitive lacrosse while also pushing myself academically was something I hoped for and Stonehill provided.

How Stonehill has shaped you as a person?
Stonehill has shaped me on and off the field, pushing me to grow not only as an athlete but also as a person. Being part of the lacrosse program has taught me discipline, accountability, and the importance of commitment- showing up even in the hard times. Balancing physical and mental demands of the sport with academics forced me to learn a strong sense of resilience. Lacrosse has also strengthened my leadership skills and the importance of teamwork. Beyond the field, Stonehill has helped me mature personally, by pushing me outside of my comfort zone and building my confidence. I hope to be remembered for my athletic achievements at Stonehill, but more importantly for the type of person, teammate, and friend that I have become.

Best Moments
One of my best moments at Stonehill, athletically, has been being part of the first class to transition from Division 2 to Division 1 lacrosse. This experience is meaningful because it requires stepping into the unknown and setting a standard for the program's future. I remember as a team being nervous and hesitant during that transition period.

Being able to host the NEC tournament last year at Stonehill just three years after transitioning to Division 1 is an incredible feeling and experience. To have the whole school and community come out to support us is something that I will never forget. Looking back as a senior, seeing the growth and progress that we have made is remarkable. I am excited for the opportunity to do it all again this season and for the future of the program.

Academically, the highlight of my Stonehill experience was being able to study abroad in Florence, Italy with two of my best friends. As student-athletes we were unable to go during the fall or spring semester but had the opportunity to study during the summer session. Being immersed in a different culture allowed me to actively engage with my surroundings, adapt quickly, and meet new people. The memories and lessons that I made during this experience will stick with me forever.

Lessons Learned ...
While at Stonehill I have learned many lessons that I will take with me beyond college. While athletics make up a big part of who I am, I have learned that this is not solely how am I defined as a person. I have strived to be the best I can be athletically, but I have realized that it takes a lot more than talent to be a successful player.

The ability to learn from setbacks is just as important as physical ability. Being a good teammate and leader by supporting others, holding myself accountable, and helping those around me improve are important to me. I have grown as a friend by listening, encouraging, and being there for my teammates through challenges big and small. These lessons learned through athletics and academics have taught me the value of building strong relationships. The friendships and lessons I learned during my time at Stonehill will last a lifetime and I will deeply miss the moments we have shared as a team.
