EASTON, Mass. (April 18, 2026) – The Stonehill women's lacrosse team earned a 14-7 victory over LIU at W.B. Mason Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Skyhawks improve to 10-6 overall (7-1 NEC) and have won seven-straight games, while the Sharks fall to 9-6 (6-2 NEC). With the win, Stonehill clinched a bid in the upcoming NEC tournament.
STONEHILL HIGHLIGHTS:
- Grace Murphy scored five goals and added an assist for six points, as she moved passed the 200-point mark for her career. Murphy has 56 goals and 68 points to lead the Skyhawks this spring.
- Natalie Coutu had a goal and three assists, giving her 189 points for her career.
- Sophia Gouveia tallied a career-high five goals, pulled in three draw controls, collected three ground balls and caused a turnover.
- Nina Tremonte recorded six saves in net.
- Stonehill was 22-of-23 on clear attempts and held the edge in ground balls, 22-19, and shots on goal, 17-9.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Less than a minute into the game,
Grace Murphy opened the scoring at 14:11, and then
Natalie Coutu added another Stonehill goal at 7:11, as the Skyhawks carried a 2-1 lead into the second quarter.
In that second frame, the Skyhawks tallied seven goals to pull away.
Sophia Gouveia fired for a goal at 14:04, and after LIU tied it, 3-3, Stonehill scored four-straight to open up a 7-3 lead. Gouveia netted goals again at 9:58 and 8:59, before
Abby Hanifin (6:45) and Murphy (5:26) found the back of the net. With Stonehill leading, 7-4, Murphy closed the half with back-to-back goals at 3:25 and 0:59, to give the Skyhawks a 9-4 advantage at the break.
Stonehill continued its surge in the third with scored by Gouveia (11:15) and
Caitlin Ruggiero (7:16) to stretch the lead to 11-4. The Sharks cut the deficit to 11-6 later in the third, but that was as close as the game would get.
Meaghan Fealy netted a goal with 38 seconds left in the third, and then Gouveia (12:4) and Murphy (0:56) put the game out of reach in the fourth.

Stonehill (10-6, 7-1 NEC) will close out the regular season at Howard (3-12, 2-6 NEC) on Saturday, April 25 at 12 p.m.
