Softball Halted by CCSU in Final Game of the Three-Game Series

EASTON, Mass. (April 9, 2026) – The Stonehill softball team dropped the three-game series to Central Connecticut State following a 6-3 loss to the Blue Devils on Thursday afternoon.

STONEHILL HIGHLIGHTS
  • Junior southpaw Harper Sullivan tossed a complete game with two strikeouts and helped her own cause at the plate going 2-for-3 with a homerun.
  • Freshman Juli Murillo went 2-for-4 with a run scored from the top of the lineup.
  • Sophomore Sarah Taylor also went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles.
  • Junior Haleigh Reed went 1-for-2 with two sacrifice flies and two RBI.
  • Freshman Jenny Olson turned an outstanding double play throwing out Drianna Pena at third to end the top of the sixth.

HOW IT HAPPENED
CCSU was quick to jump on the scoreboard, pushing across two runs in the top of the first, but Stonehill responded immediately in the home half. Freshman Juli Murillo led off the inning with a single then advanced to third on a double to left field off the bat of Sarah Taylor.

The Skyhawks were threatening with runners in scoring position and no outs. After junior Harper Sullivan loaded the bases with a walk, junior Haleigh Reed drove in Murillo with a sacrifice fly to cut the lead in half.

The score remained tight until the fifth inning. CCSU added a run to extend their lead back to two, but it didn't last for very long. Sullivan blasted a solo shot to straight away centerfield to pull the Skyhawks back to within one.

However, the Blue Devils pulled away in the final frames, scoring three runs. The Skyhawks made the final inning interesting with Reed driving in her second run of the game on another sacrifice fly, but came up short.
