Larkin Joins Men's Basketball Coaching Staff

EASTON, Mass. (June 15, 2026) – Stonehill Head Men's Basketball Coach Chris Kraus announces the hiring of Mike Larkin to join the men's basketball coaching staff for the upcoming 2026-2027 season.

Larkin joins the Skyhawks after spending the past seven years with Rutgers University as the Director of Basketball Operations. While with the Scarlet Knights, Larkin oversaw a wide range of program operations, including film breakdown and analysis, opponent scouting, facility management, practice planning and recruiting. Additionally, he also served as the program's liaison to the administration, compliance and ticket office, while managing the program's budget.

The Scarlet Knights saw a renaissance since Larkin's arrival in Piscataway. Rutgers reached the post-season in three consecutive seasons, which included back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in 2020-21 and 2021-22. Most notably during the 2020-21 season, the Scarlet Knights earned their first NCAA Tournament bid since 1991 and first Tournament win with a victory over Clemson – the program's first since 1983.

Larkin also proved to be strong on the recruiting front, assisting in Rutgers' best recruiting in program history in 2024, that featured two future Top 5 NBA Draft picks in Dylan Harper (#2) and Ace Bailey (#5).

Prior to his time at Rutgers, Larkin spent seven seasons on the coaching staff at Saint Michael's College, including four as Associate Head Coach, where he had a decorated a coaching career. On the court, he guided the Purple Knights to back-to-back 18-win seasons (2013-14, 2014-15) and the program's first NE-10 Semifinal appearance (2014-15) in 14 years. Larkin also recruited and coached an NE-10 Rookie of the Year, three NE-10 All-Rookie Team recipients, one All-NE-10 First Team recipient, and one NE-10 Academic All-Conference honoree.

Larkin also spent two seasons as a graduate intern at Rutgers-Newark and one year as an assistant coach at Bard College.

A Jacob Albright Scholar and a member of the Spanish Honor Society at Albright College, Larkin helped the Lions to 17-9 records as a junior and senior while earning Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics in 2009. He completed his Master's Degree in Public Administration at Rutgers-Newark in 2012.
