EASTON, Mass. (Aug. 27, 2026) – The Stonehill men's soccer team battle long-time foe Merrimack to a 1-1 tie late Thursday afternoon.
STONEHILL HIGHLIGHTS
- Sophomore Jordan Sohal registered his first goal of his collegiate career in the 32nd minute.
- Fifth year Dylan Walsh added his first assist of the season.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Felix van der Hagen recorded seven saves in net.
HOW IT HAPPENED
It was tight match as it typically is between these two long-time foes. While the Warriors had the slight edge on time of possession early on, the Skyhawks struck first.
Earning their third corner kick of the half, fifth year senior
Dylan Walsh connected with
Jordan Sohal in front of net for his first goal and to give the Skyhawks the 1-0 lead. Stonehill carried the one-goal lead into halftime and throughout much of the second half.
The Skyhawks looked poised to add to their lead with a trio of shots by senior
Chris Hines, freshman
Bryan Mayhew and freshman
Maciej Rusiecki, but were unable to bury the ball in the back of the net.
Meanwhile, Merrimack was not going away quietly. They continued to pressure the Skyhawk defense and in 74
th minute the Warriors were able to knot up the contest at one.
