PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Stonehill volleyball team dropped a hard-fought non-conference match to Holy Cross in four sets to begin the Friar Classic late Friday afternoon.
STONEHILL HIGHLIGHTS
- Senior Addy Frye registered a double-double as she led the Skyhawks with 15 kills, in addition to tallying 14 digs.
- Sophomore Haley Herndon hit .300 on the day notching 10 kills on 20 attempts with just four errors.
- Sophomore Sam Loyd rounded out the Skyhawks in double figures with 11 kills.
- Junior Kristi Bishop registered a season-high 22 digs to anchor the Skyhawks defense.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Holy Cross jumped out to the early lead an early lead claiming the first set, 25-17. The Skyhawks looked to even the match building a lead in the second frame, but the Crusaders were able to pull away with late rally to take a two-match lead, winning the second set, 25-22.

Sam Loyd sparked rally as the Skyhawks forced a fourth set, edging out the Crusaders, 25-19.
The fourth set was tightly contest and came down to the wire, but Holy Cross was able to hold off a late Stonehill push to seal the match with a 25-23 win the fourth set.
