SYRACUSE, N.Y. (September 26, 2026) – The Stonehill College women's hockey team fell, 4-1, on the road in its weekend finale at Syracuse Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Skyhawks dropped to 0-2 on the season, while the Orange improved to 2-0 to start the year.

- Senior Peyton Wise netted her first goal of the season and the 14th of her collegiate career.
- Freshman Julie Morrison registered her first collegiate point with an assist, while sophomore Bella Sacca recorded a secondary assist on Wise's second-period goal.
- Freshman Spencer Vaccari led the Skyhawks with 12 faceoff wins, while classmates Jamie Noonan and sophomore Masyn Mullin each recorded four blocked shots.
- Junior netminder Alexsa Caron made 59 saves between the pipes, marking her second consecutive game with at least 50 saves.
How it Happened
Syracuse quickly established offensive control, maintaining possession early while outshooting Stonehill, 8-2, over the opening five minutes. At the 7:02 mark, the Orange broke open the scoring when Stella Costabile lit the lamp with her first goal of the season.
From the 10:35 mark to the 13-minute mark of the opening frame, Stonehill generated offensive momentum, registering six shot attempts, including two on target, during the stretch. However, the Skyhawks were unable to break through before the intermission, heading into the first intermission trailing by one.
After facing consistent pressure to open the second period, Stonehill capitalized on a Syracuse neutral-zone turnover at the 4:13 mark. Morrison dished a pass into the slot to Wise, who buried her first goal of the season to even the score at one.
Just over two minutes later, at the 6:41 mark of the middle frame, Syracuse regained its one-goal advantage when Jackson Kinsler lit the lamp.
The Orange added a pair of goals in the third period, with Kinsler netting her second of the game at the 2:43 mark before Jessica Cheung scored her second of the weekend on the power play in the waning moments. Despite Caron keeping the Skyhawks within striking distance with her second consecutive 50-plus-save outing, Stonehill was unable to mount a comeback, falling to Syracuse, 4-1.
