EASTON, MASS. (Sept. 28, 2026) – The Stonehill field hockey team picked up its second NEC victory of the season after downing Mercyhurst by a score of 2-1 at W.B. Mason Stadium Monday afternoon.
The victory improves Stonehill to 2-6 overall (2-1 NEC), while the Lakers slip to 1-7 (0-3 NEC).
STONEHILL HIGHLIGHTS:
- Delaney Wojnarowicz tallied the game-winning goal at 38:43 of the third quarter, her second of the year.
- Sadie Elion also found the back of the net for the Skyhawks.
- Teagan O'Donnell collected an assist, tying her for the team lead with six points.
- Isabelle Morton recorded one save to collect her second victory of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Skyhawks went up, 1-0, late in the first quarter when
Tess van Oirschot sent a pass in front that was buried into the back of the goal by
Sadie Elion at 13:57. Mercyhurst knotted the game, 1-1, with 35 seconds left in the half, as Rachel Kosowski tallied the goal for the Lakers.
Midway through the first quarter, the Skyhawks scored off a Mercyhurst turnover when
Delaney Wojnarowicz deflected in a shot by
Teagan O'Donnell to put the Skyhawks in front for good, 2-1, at the 38:43 mark.
Stonehill led in shots, 23-6, shots on goal, 10-2, and penalty corners, 9-3, earning all nine corners in the second half.
