Drafted by Boston Red Sox in 28th round of 2011 Major LeagueBaseball First Year Player Draft.

2011:Athletic Director's Honor Roll SpringSemester. NE-10 Commissioner's SpringHonor Roll. Made ateam-high 20 appearances in his first season exclusively as theteam's closer. Posted a program record ten saves to go with a 0-1record and 3.63 earned run average with 34 strikeouts and 15 walksin 22.1 innings pitched. Combined on four shutouts and allowed justfour extra base hits (all doubles), with opposing batters hitting.253 against him. Averaged 13.70 strikeouts per nine innings andpicked off two baserunners. Made ten appearances in NE-10 play andposted four saves and a 4.91 ERA with 20 strikeouts and seven walksin 11.0 innings. Had ten appearances in non-conference play and was0-1 with six saves and a 2.38 ERA with 14 strikeouts and eightwalks over 11.1 innings, holding opposing batters to a .179average. Struck out 18 with six walks and six saves and a 1.86 ERAover 9.2 innings in eight appearances at home. Allowed justtwo runs (both earned) over his first 19 innings pitched (0.95 ERA)of the season in 16 appearances. Posted his first save of theseason with 1.2 scoreless innings, striking out two, in 7-5 winover West Virginia Wesleyan (2/25). Struck out three in 1.1 hitlessinnings to notch save in 2-0 win over Post (3/25). Earned twoinning save with five strikeouts without allowing a hit or run in6-5 win over American International (4/3). Fanned three in 1.1inning save over UMass Lowell (4/10). Struck out all three battershe faced to nail down 1-0 win over Saint Michael's (4/25).

2010: NE-10Commissioner's Fall Honor Roll. Played 42 games,starting 40. Made 14 appearances on the mound, all in relief andwas 2-2 with four saves and a 1.53 earned run average, striking out17 with just five walks in 17.2 innings. Allowed just two extrabase hits (both doubles). Was also the Skyhawks starting shortstop,hitting .219 (33-for-151) with 13 runs scored, six doubles, atriple, 11 RBI and five stolen bases. Six of his 11 RBI came withtwo outs. Didn't allow a run in five innings over five postseasonappearances for the Skyhawks, notching three of his four saves withnine strikeouts and no walks, yielding just three hits. EarnedNE-10 Tournament All-Championship Teamhonors in helping the Skyhawks win the NE-10 Tournament as heclosed out all four wins, with three saves, eight strikeouts and nowalks, yielding just one hit in 3.2 innings over the fourappearances. Hit .326 (14-for-43) with three runs scored, threedoubles, three RBI and three stolen bases in 11 starts athome. Opened the season by going 2-for-4 with two RBI in 4-1non-conference win over Saint Anselm (3/6). Posted first careersave in 3-1 victory at Southern New Hampshire, striking out two ina scoreless inning. Drove in four runs on three hits with a stolenbase in doubleheader sweep of Pace (3/20). Also earned a relief winin 10-9 game one win, allowing two unearned runs over 2.2 inningsof extra innings victory. Hit 3-for-4 with a double againstSouthern N.H. (4/5). Was a combined 5-for-9 with a double, tripleand two RBI in two wins over UMass Lowell (4/11, 14). Also pitcheda perfect inning of relief in 7-2 win at River Hawks (4/11). Struckout both batters he faced to close out 4-1 win over New Haven (5/6)in opening game of NE-10 Tournament. Batted 2-for-4 with an RBI in5-1 win at #25 Franklin Pierce (5/7) in game two of NE-10Tournament, adding a perfect inning of relief with two strikeoutson the mound to close out the win. Struck out two of three battershe faced in a perfect inning of relief to notch save in 

3-2 win over Merrimack (5/8) inNE-10 Tournament. Worked around a hit with two strikeouts to clinchNE-10 Championship in 5-4 victory over #25 Franklin Pierce (5/9) inNE-10 Championship round.

2009: Missed season recovering from labrumsurgery.

2008: Played46 of 47 games, starting 45, and hit .248 (40-for-161) with 27 runsscored, six doubles, a team-best five triples and three home runswith 28 RBI. Made four relief appearances on the mound and was 1-0with a 7.71 earned run average, one strikeout and two walks over4.2 innings. Started 28 of 29 games in NE-10 play and posted 14hits, 11 runs scored, three triples and ten RBI. Made just tworelief appearances in Conference play, allowing no runs and no hitsin two thirds of an inning. Has two hits, including a triple, tworuns scored and two RBI in win at Saint Anselm (3/25). Drove inthree runs against the Hawks the next day (3/26). Batted 2-for-4with a triple and run scored against Southern Connecticut State(4/30). 

2007: Saw actionin 33 games, making 31 starts. Hit .252 in 103 at-bats. Recorded 26hits, including seven doubles. Had one homerun and 16 RBI. Led theteam with six sacrifice hits. Stole the only base he attempted.

HighSchool: 2006 graduate of Masconomet HighSchool. Three-year letterwinner. Received scholar-athletehonors in both junior and senior seasons. Honor roll student.

Personal: Bornon October 7, 1987, in Concord, Mass. Son of David and KarlaShepard of Boxford, Mass. Has two bothers, Kyle (20) and Colin(17), and two sisters, Jacqueline (15) and Michelle (8). Brother,Kyle, is a teammate here at Stonehill. Cousin, Kevin Shepard,played baseball at Boston College and in the PhiladelphiaPhillies organization. Father, David, played basketball at BentleyUniversity. Majoring in history with a minor in sociology.
