Nicholas “Mo” Morreale joined the Stonehill Skyhawks staff in the fall of 2024, after starting his coaching career with the 2023 Framingham State Rams, helping Coach Callahan guide the Rams to their first-ever MASCAC championship. In addition to college coaching, Morreale has commanded the helm of several GBG Hawks squads at the 12U, 14U, 16U, and 17U levels.
Despite not having a baseball card, Morreale spent more than a decade in professional baseball. Drafted out of Vernon Hills High (IL) by the Philadelphia Phillies in 2006, Morreale elected to attend Mesa Community College, Northern Illinois University, and finally, graduated from Arizona State University in 2011. Morreale was signed and released from several independent teams before accepting a role as a bullpen catcher with the Colorado Rockies in 2012/2013. Having dual Italian-American citizenship Morreale signed with the T&A San Marino baseball club in the Italian baseball league in 2014. Over the next eight years, he participated in the World Baseball Classic, Premier 12, two European Championships, and two Italian Baseball Series, winning a European Championship and a bronze medal for sportsmanship. Morreale made the all-star game and the national team in each of his first five seasons in the league. His final season was in 2021, in which he got the win and drove in the go-ahead run in a decisive final game of the season.
In addition to his playing experience, Nicholas also worked as a Quality Assurance Engineer for Trackman portable football, baseball, and soccer products. Combining this experience and the low budget most teams work with, Morreale was able to implement low-cost data-driven baseball systems to help programs in Italy and Germany. He worked on the grounds crew at Fenway Park during the 2022 & 2023 Red Sox seasons. This fall/winter he will be taking on small group/private hitting, fielding, and catching lessons with GBG baseball at RBI baseball facilities.
