Jonathan Sazo isin his second season as an assistant coach with the Stonehillfootball program. He will assist assistant head coach and defensivecoordinator Eli Gardner with the Skyhawks defensive backs.
Stonehill is coming off its bestseason in nearly 20 years during Sazo's first year in 2013 as itfinished with its first winning season since 1996 and earned ashare of the Northeast-10 Conference regular season championship.The Skyhawks played in its first NE-10 Championship game and theSkyhawks defense led the league in takeaways (30).Stonehill’s defense also ranked second in the NE-10 forscoring defense (24.3 ppg) and passing defense (246.8 yds/gm),while ranking third for interceptions (16).
Sazo joined the Stonehill coachingstaff after serving two years as an equipment intern with the NewYork Jets. He set up and prepared practice drills for teampositions throughout the season as well as offseason footballrelated activities such as rookie mini camp, mini camp and trainingcamp and was an active member in all positional practice exercisesassisting the defensive coordinator and defensive backs unit. Sazoperformed football operational duties for the franchise, assembledplayer and coaches playbooks and assisted in the organization anddelivery of travel equipment for home and away games.
Sazo, a 2011 graduate of theUniversity of Connecticut, served as a student manager for theHuskies football program during his undergraduate years. Hefacilitated practice drills and helped prepare game day equipmentfor the entire season which included trips to three bowl games,including the 2011 Fiesta Bowl.
Sazo earned his Bachelor of Sciencedegree in sport management at Connecticut.
