Mark Pizziferri isentering his first season as assistant football coach at StonehillCollege. He will serve as the Skyhawks special teams coordinator aswell as position coach for the defensive line.
Pizziferri brings 17 years offootball coaching experience to Stonehill, most recently working asrecruiting coordinator and secondary coach at rival BentleyUniversity in 2008-09. Prior that, he spent four seasons at anotherfellow Northeast-10 Conference member Merrimack College from2003-06 as the Warriors defensive coordinator. He helped guide theWarriors to an 8-2 mark in 2003, the school record for wins at thetime.
Pizziferri spent five seasons atCurry College as associate head coach, under former New EnglandPatriot Steve Nelson, also working as the recruiting coordinator,defensive coordinator, defensive line coach and director ofstrength and conditioning. He helped guide the Colonels to fivestraight winning seasons and two-straight ECAC Championship gameappearances. The team posted a five year record of 35-14, finishingthe 1998 season as the most improved team in all of Division III.Pizziferri coached two All-Americans, one Academic All-American, aConference MVP and several All-Conference players at Curry.
Pizziferri coached at the highschool level at Winthrop High School from 1990-98, working inseveral capacities on the defensive side of the ball. He wasdefensive coordinator for the Vikings for his final two seasons. Hehas also worked numerous camps in the area at Boston College,Curry, Northeastern and Bentley.
Pizziferri is a 1983 graduate ofNorwich University in Northfield, Vt., where he was a member of theCadets football program. He earned his Juris Doctorate from NewEngland School of Law in 1987 and has been in the general practiceof law in Boston since 1987. Pizziferri has also worked as a parttime law instructor at several local colleges.
