Janelle Harrison - WBB Headshot 2024-25

Janelle Harrison

Janelle Harrison was named an assistant coach with the Stonehill women's basketball in July 2024.

“We are thrilled to have Janelle Harrison join the Skyhawk family,” said Brown. “She brings tremendous experience as a player and a coach to our women’s basketball coaching staff. Janelle had tremendous success at the University of Hartford, followed by an outstanding professional playing career overseas. She has been recognized for her excellence on the court and in the classroom and will be a phenomenal role model and mentor for our student-athletes.”

Harrison joins the coaching staff at Stonehill after two seasons as an assistant coach at the NCAA Division I and Division II levels following a year as Director of Basketball Operations at Hartford, her alma mater. She most recently served as top assistant coach to head coach Courtney Burns at Post University, helping guide the Eagles to the NCAA Division II Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference’s North Division Regular Season Championship. Post finished 17-10 overall, defending their home court at the Drubner Center with an 11-2 mark. In addition to leading all scouting and film breakdown, Harrison was a key recruiter and provided academic support, while overseeing the team’s leadership group.

Harrison served as assistant coach, along with now fellow Stonehill assistant Marcus Reilly, at former Division I Bryant University on the coaching staff of longtime head coach Mary Burke during the 2022-23 season. She assisted in recruiting and led post player development in the Bulldogs first year as members of America East. Harrison got her coaching start at her alma mater during the 2021-22 season as Director of Basketball Operations for head coach Melissa Hodgdon for Hartford in America East.

Prior to moving into the coaching ranks, Harrison spent three years playing professionally overseas in Portugal, Lebanon, Puerto Rico and Egypt. She is a 2018 graduate of Hartford with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication, later earning a Master of Business Administration degree in 2023. Harrison was a two-year captain for the Hawks, where she was a two-time America East All-Defensive Team selection while surpassing 1,000 points and 500 rebounds over the course of her career. She was a member of two America East Championship runner-up squads, earning All-Tournament team honors as a senior and receiving the Conference’s Academic Cup recognition for her work in the classroom, where she was a Dean’s List and President’s List student.
