Former Stonehill Collegewomen’s basketball standout Megan Methven,’10 is in her second season as an assistant coach onTrisha Brown's coaching staff
Methven returns to Stonehill afterserving as girls’ basketball coach at nearby Whitman-HansonRegional High School, where she was named head coach in February2013. She was assistant coach for the Panthers for over twoseasons, helping the team reach two Massachusetts InterscholasticAthletic Association (MIAA) Division I tournament appearances. Ashead coach she created and implemented practice plans, did filmbreakdown, scheduling and scouting, while also gaining valuablefundraising experience and organized a “Play for Kay”event that raised over $1,000 for the Kay Yow Fund.
In addition to her work with Whitman-Hanson, Methven was head coachof Bay State Magic Elite and Mass Attack AAU teams for three years.She coached teams to the Division I 13 and Under Division I StateChampionship and a trip to the Girl’s AAU Junior NationalTournament Championship. Methven also gained valuable coachingexperience as head girls’ varsity lacrosse coach atWhitman-Hanson for two years as well as at Abington High School in2011, leading Abington to its first ever postseason appearance.
Methven has worked basketball campsand clinics at Stonehill as well as Hartwick College and OneontaState College in Upstate New York, near her hometown of Corning,N.Y. In addition to her coaching duties, she taught mathematics atWhitman-Hanson.
Methven was part of four NCAATournament teams during her time as a student-athlete at Stonehill,serving as captain her senior year. She received the Fred C. PettiAcademic Award following her senior year for having the highestgrade point average for that academic year. Methven, one of the topthree-point shooters in program history, is one of 27 players inStonehill’s 1,000-point club, finishing with 1,014 careerpoints and currently ranks second all-time with 226 careerthree-point field goals. She ranks seventh all-time for careerfree-throw percentage (.783) and her 76 three-pointers as afreshman in 2006-07 ranks second on the program’ssingle-season list. Methven, a regular on the NE-10Commissioner’s Honor Roll, earned All-Rookie Team status fromthe NE-10 as a freshman and helped lead the Skyhawks to regularseason and tournament conference championships in 2007-08.

Methven received her Bachelor ofArts degree from Stonehill in 2010 for mathematics. She wasinvolved with the Athletic Leadership and Lifeskills EducationCommittees, serving as co-chair of Special Olympics events hostedby the College.
