Stonehill College

Marc Maloney is in his third year as head coach of the women's tennis program at Stonehill College.

Maloney has maintained the level of excellence the women's tennis program had built in his first year in charge, leading Stonehill to its fifth Northeast-10 Conference Tournament and a ninth NCAA Division II Tournament bid. The Skyhawks posted a 13-8 record overall in his first year, including an impressive 10-2 mark in NE-10 dual match play. Stonehill finished the year ranked sixth in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II East Regional rankings.

Maloney came to Stonehill after three seasons as assistant coach of the men’s and women’s tennis programs at his alma mater, Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusetts, under Jeremy Howard and Lauren MacKay. The women’s tennis program posted a 50-14 (.781) record in his three seasons as assistant coach, winning three Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) championships and earning three NCAA Division III Tournament appearances. The Gulls were 21-3 (.875) in CCC play over those three years as well and posted a program-best 19-4 clip during the 2012-13 season.

The men’s tennis program posted a 30-28 (.517) overall record during Maloney’s three seasons as assistant coach, including a 16-8 (.667) mark in CCC play, with three Conference tournament appearances. Maloney assisted with the organization of practice sessions, match preparation and coaching as well as recruiting. He has gained coaching experience as an instructor at Indian Ridge Country Club, in Andover, Agawam (Mass.) Parks & Recreation, Forest Park Recreation Department, in Springfield, and Ann Arbor School System, in Michigan.

Maloney is a 2009 graduate of Endicott, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing, where he was a four year member of the men’s tennis team, serving as captain for three years. He was the team’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) representative all four years and helped lead the Gulls to a combined 23-12 (.657) record over his junior and senior seasons and three CCC Tournament appearances.

Maloney, who also works in the Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, currently resides in Wakefield.
