#3 Bloomsburg Rolls Past #4 Stonehill, 9-1

Three different Huskies score twice to key victory

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. (September 3, 2011) – Bloomsburg University, ranked third in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II preseason poll, scored seven goals in the opening half and didn't look back to claim a 9-1 triumph over fourth-ranked Stonehill College in non-conference field hockey action at Sports Stadium this afternoon.

Senior Lindsay Danz (Rehoboth Beach, Del./Sussex Technical) led three Bloomsburg players with two goals as she also dished an assist in the win. Juniors Amber Aulenbach (Fleetwood, Pa./Oley Valley) and Brooke Simonovich (East Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) each contributed two goals, with Aulenbach scoring both her tallies in the Huskies seven goal first half.

Junior goaltender Meghan Hollenbach (Blandon, Pa./Fleetwood) posted four saves over the first 55:52 for Bloomsburg, before sophomore Megan Eppley (Camp Hill, Pa./Camp Hill) stopped one shot over the final 13:52.

Sophomore Devin Ingersoll (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry) scored the lone Stonehill goal, marking the first goal of the season for the Skyhawks, when she converted a penalty stroke at 52:32. Freshman Elizabeth Genovese (Street, Md./North Harford) posted a season-high ten saves over 43:50 in relief of junior Kaitlyn Curtis (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxborough) who stopped five shots in the opening 25:54.

Aulenbach opened the scoring 4:51 into the contest as she blasted in a shot from the top of the arc. She added a penalty stroke goal at 23:02 that was sandwiched between two markers by Danz, the second of which put the Huskies up 6-0 25:53 into the contest. Bloomsburg led by seven at the intermission and then goals from junior Alexis Weber (Bear, Del./William Penn) and Simonovich, assisted by Danz, gave the hosts a nine goal cushion just over 14 minutes into the second half.

Stonehill (0-2, 0-0 NE-10) returns to action on Tuesday night for its home opener with a non-conference clash with American International College at W.B. Mason Stadium at 7 p.m. Bloomsburg (2-0, 0-0 PSAC) hosts Shippensburg University on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
