Third quarter surge sends Fighting Knights to win behind Jarka's seven points
BOCA RATON, Fla. (March 7, 2022) – Lynn University used an eight-goal run to start the third quarter to key a 21-16 victory over Stonehill College in non-conference women's lacrosse action at Bobby Campbell Stadium today.

Lynn emerged from a back-and-forth opening quarter with a 5-3 lead as the Fighting Knights finished the frame with a 4-1 run over the final seven minutes, capped by two goals by sophomore Sydney Hill in the final 62-seconds. Freshman Kristyn Johnson also tallied two markers for Lynn in the opening 15, while Stonehill got goals from three different players.
- Lynn extended its lead to three goals as Hill potted a third consecutive marker 2:32 into the second quarter.
- Stonehill followed with a 5-1 run over the next ten minutes, with two goals each from junior Kayla Conway and sophomore Molly Mae Hughes, who also dished out an assist, to reclaim the lead (8-7) with 2:41 left in the first half.
- Jarka's second goal of the game, and quarter, knotted the score with 1:30 left in the half, but senior Kendall Fressle's second goal of the quarter sent Stonehill into halftime with the lead (9-8).
- Lynn scored eight-straight goals over a ten-minute span to open a 16-9 lead with 3:16 left in the third quarter. Junior Isabella Clark sparked the run with two goals and an assist, while freshman Mallory Jarka added a goal and assist for the Fighting Knights.
- Senior preseason All-American Emma Sullivan sparked a four-goal Stonehill run that trickled into the fourth quarter with 30-seconds left in the third and then opened the fourth quarter scoring 26-seconds in.
- Stonehill was back within three (16-13) with 11:29 still to play, after back-to-back goals from junior Lydia Rudden, but Lynn scored five of the next six goals within a seven-minute span to open a seven-goal lead (21-14) with 2:25 remaining after two scores by junior Danielle Farinas to seal the win.
- Fressle capped her season-best four goal day with a pair of markers 25-seconds apart that provided the final margin.
Noteworthy
- Freshman Sarah Faley started in goal for Stonehill and made a season-high seven saves over the first 41:45, before sophomore Claire Smith stopped a career-high three shots in the final 18:15.
- Sullivan again filled the boxscore for Stonehill, posting two goals and two assists for four points, while adding five draw controls, six ground balls and two caused turnovers. She has now totaled 84 points (67 goals, 17 assists) in 33 career games and collected her 100th career draw control today.
- Today marked the seventh time in program history Stonehill has yielded 20-plus goals, with the 21 goals against the most since LIU Post scored the most all-time against the Skyhawks in a 23-11 Pioneers win on April 24, 2010.
- Today's game was the first ever encounter between these two programs.

Stonehill (1-1, 0-0 NE10) returns to action on Wednesday, when it wraps up its spring break trip with a non-conference matchup with Concordia University-St. Paul at Palm Bay Magnet High School in Melbourne, Florida, at noon. The Skyhawks home opener is scheduled for Saturday, March 19, against newly No. 1-ranked Le Moyne College for a Northeast-10 Conference contest at 1 p.m. Lynn (4-1, 0-0 SSC) hosts Lander University on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
